Schwarz & Schwarz was honored to be included in the powerful work being done by the IAM to grow the union and develop the next generation of leaders. IAM’s Committee on the Future has held meetings over the last several months, listening to as many members in different sectors of the union as possible, gathering direct input on key issues.
Alex Schwarz was invited by COTF member and President of the Obie O’Brien Liberty Bell Local Lodge 1776, Larry Reeves, to attend the meeting that was recently held in Philadelphia. Alex was there to observe critical discussions about ways that the union can identify and develop their future leaders, how social media should play a role in member communications, and how to improve diversity in leadership positions to better represent the membership. Leaders from all over the country – including Jerry Redman, Executive Board for District Lodge 19 in Kansas City, Juan Estrada- General Chairman District 19 in Los Angeles, and Allie Parker, Executive Director Industry Relations TCU/IAM – were also in Philadelphia for the event.
The findings generated by The Committee on the Future will be shared with the IAM Executive Council early in 2024 and a final report will be presented at The 41st IAM Grand Lodge Convention. By doing this, IAM is ensuring that members’ voices are heard, and that ideas on the future of the union are driven by those that matter most.
At Schwarz & Schwarz, we are inspired by the great work that the IAM is doing and the future they’re striving to build – and take inspiration from the IAM and forward-thinking organizations everywhere who are seeking to drive positive change. These listening sessions are a thoughtful and strategic method that’s helping pave the way to a better future for all. When you need us, we’ll be here to help drive the future that IAM and innovative unions everywhere are creating.
